JiDion Comments on Streamers Saying Streaming is Harder than Working
Key Takeaways
- Streaming is lucrative but hard to succeed in due to competition and inherent costs.
- JiDion argues a 9-to-5 job is tougher.
- Debate continues among streamers with differing opinions on the difficulty of streaming vs. traditional work.
JiDion has weighed in on the recent controversial comments from various streamers claiming that streaming is more difficult than holding down a traditional job. The opinion is a matter of contention among streamers, it would seem, with varying opinions coming from all sides regardless of whether one streams on Twitch, Kick, YouTube, or somewhere else.
Streaming can be incredibly lucrative, but it’s also a very hard profession to succeed in. In addition to the inherent costs of streaming, services like Twitch and Kick are already awash in streamers of all kinds, making it hard to get discovered and find an audience. While success in streaming can be tough, many have taken that a step further by saying that it’s harder than having a standard job.

Now, JiDion is refuting these claims. As a big content creator himself, he recently took to his social media account to argue that having a standard 9 to 5 job is far more difficult than streaming. He says that “when you don’t know if you’re going to have enough to put food on the table that outways [sic] the stress a multi millionaire streamer goes thru.” He points out that he can’t imagine any successful streamer willingly going back to clock in at a standard job.
JiDion Debates The Difficulty of Streaming vs Traditional Work
In the comments, one person responded, saying that JiDion should imagine streaming for hours a day to only make 8 dollars, as a large amount of streamers struggle to earn anything on their platforms. JiDion responded, saying he’s worked 7 jobs, and that the commenter should imagine working as a waiter being paid 2 dollars an hour and not getting tipped, which JiDion has apparently gone through.
While fans continued debating both sides, this latest commentary is just the latest weighing in on the difficulty of streaming. While Pokimane previously said that streaming was not a difficult job, others like Asmongold and Hasan have claimed that streaming is far more difficult than workers expect. Some streamers have gone so far as to tell their viewers to not get into streaming because of the potential for failure. In some cases, streamers can’t even recoup their costs of purchasing streamer equipment like lighting rigs, web cameras, and VTuber avatars.
In the end, it’s likely that this boils down to a matter of opinion and personal experience. Some streamers likely greatly prefer being behind the camera and showing off what they love to others. On the other hand, some may prefer the stability of a standard job, rather than hoping they have enough viewers and donations to get by for the month.
