A new Honkai: Star Rail leak has revealed that Version 3.1 will feature a free 4-star character selector, potentially linked to a limited-time event. Honkai: Star Rail will soon begin its 3.0 cycle, with several gameplay features and new characters coming to the game.
There are currently 23 4-star characters in Honkai: Star Rail, and while very few of them have a high place in the meta, some units can be quite useful in various teams. More recently released characters like Moze and Gallagher have quickly become fan favorites for their versatility. However, to become powerful units, 4-stars often need higher Eidolons levels. In past updates, like Version 2.1 and 2.7, Honkai: Star Rail gave players a chance to collect these Eidolons easily through free character selectors. Now, a new leak regarding Version 3.1 suggests that the event will return with four units to choose from.

Honkai: Star Rail’s leaked skin system is slowly turning into a reality with the upcoming release of March 7th’s very first skin.
Prominent community leaker HomDGCat has reported that a new free 4-star character selector is coming to Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1. Per the leak, players would be able to choose between Qingque, Pela, Serval, and Asta to add to their roster. The leak also suggests that the selector would be part of a timed-time event, similar to previous patches. All the characters listed in the selector debuted during the 1.0 cycle, and Asta is even given for free to players very early in the game. Earlier rumors hinted that all upcoming Honkai: Star Rail characters are 5-stars, so the new leak could support the notion that Amphoreus is not releasing any 4-star units anytime soon.
Honkai: Star Rail Leak Teases New 4-Star Character Selector in Version 3.1
- Qingque: Quantum, Erudition
- Pela: Ice, Nihility
- Serval: Lightning, Erudition
- Asta: Fire, Harmony
While Pela and Asta have remained decent supports since their debut, Qingque and Serval have long been surpassed by newer DPS characters. Moreover, all of these units can be bought through the in-game store. Since Penacony, players have pointed out that Honkai: Star Rail has followed a trend of releasing more 5-star units than 4-stars. There are almost 40 five-star characters in the game, so the difference between both tiers is substantial. Eight more 5-star characters are expected to debut with Amphoreus, and the crossover between Honkai: Star Rail and Fate/Stay Night is rumored to add two more.
During the 2.0 cycle, Honkai: Star Rail released only four new 4-star characters, which is including March 7th’s alternate form. It’s unclear whether Amphoreus will follow the same trend, but if the leaks turn out to be true, future 4-star character selectors may not have enough new units to offer. Regardless, players should look forward to the next patch, as Version 3.0 is adding the long-awaited The Herta and Aglaea. To help players stock up on pulls, Honkai: Star Rail recently shared new redeem codes for free Stellar Jades and materials.
