From Season 4 Needs To More Concrete Answers
Key Takeaways
Table of Contents
- Fans enjoy From’s mysterious elements.
- Season 4 renewal raises questions over how long the series will last.
- Season 3’s unresolved questions require more concrete answers in Season 4 as the series starts to wind down to an actual conclusion.
From is one of those shows that prides itself on always staying one step ahead of its audience. This isn’t a mystery that is begging to be solved. The creators want people to constantly be on their heels when trying to figure out what is happening. That approach is always fun for the viewers. One check in the From subreddit shows that fans are having plenty of fun trying to figure out what each little symbol or character or monster is supposed to mean. The MGM+ series does its job well, but there is a catch to that approach.
From got itself a fourth season not too long ago. There was a time when that was a real question. The series is hidden away on an application that isn’t among the most popular streaming services. But word of mouth has gotten it enough eyeballs that MGM is dedicated to the moment. The problem is there’s no way to tell just how long the show will keep getting renewed or how many seasons the writers are planning for the story to go. With a show like this, there is a real danger that the plug will get pulled if more concrete answers don’t start arriving soon. Season 4 needs to start offering those answers on a “just in case” basis if nothing else.

Remakes may be disappointing sometimes, but there is one 2024 Blumhouse horror remake that stands out, and streaming soon.
From Season 3 Was All About Wheel Spinning
From Season 3 felt like for the most part, the writers might have been running out of ideas. Yes new things and new plots were popping up. Especially with Fromville getting colder and colder and a winter descending on the mystery land for apparently the first time that any of its denizens remembered. But as far as a far-reaching plot, it just appeared to be a “mess with Boyd.” There were challenges to his authority and the slow breakdown of his carefully cultivated optimism in the face of monsters that only came out at night and sliced and diced whoever and whatever they ran across once they did come out.
At one point, the monsters of Fromville admitted their main reason for hanging around was to prove Boyd wrong when he declared he couldn’t be broken in Season 2. Certainly, that gave them more of an evil spin than they even had before. After all, it wasn’t clear if the things had a real motivation beyond hunting and killing until they started telling Boyd they wanted to make sure he lost hope. But the desire to drive Boyd crazy left some questions in its wake. Why they bothered to leave him alive when they had him dead to rights for one.
Other questions also arose, including what the cicadas are supposed to specify. Once they were the symbol of something truly terrifying. They killed people in their sleep. But after Season 2, they’ve just become something that appears to be annoying to Randall. Speaking of Randall, why did the monsters leave him alive and scarred, rather than kill him? The stated goal seemed to once again be to bother Boyd, but to be honest, he doesn’t seem all that bothered by it after the initial bloodied mess is revealed.
Answers Lead To More Questions in From Season 3
That’s not to say no answers were offered at the end of From‘s third season. Certainly the mystery behind what Fatima was “pregnant” with was answered. Though once again, that birth shows that even the things the viewers and the members of Fromville knew about the place was wrong. While it’s possible to kill off the smiley monsters, keeping them dead is impossible. And yes, there were answers as to where the monsters come from. And that is certainly a big question even if the answer isn’t really all that satisfying now that it’s here.
The children and what they kept saying to specific members of the town were also revealed. With it, some backstory on why at least Jade and Tabitha were there was revealed. However, there are still plenty of other questions. Not the least of which is why there are “story walkers” and who the Man in Yellow is since he’s clearly not your everyday ordinary smiley monster.
The biggest question for this particular land, is whether or not there is a way to get out. With Jade and Tabitha having returned over and over, is the audience supposed to realize that there isn’t an exit for anyone? How are the people who end up in Fromville chosen. Are they chosen or is it random chance? Why do the rules change so often and why are they sometimes in favor of the people fighting for their lives?
From Season 4 needs to start moving towards some real, concrete answers. The show needs to start wrapping things up to the point where there are goals to shoot for. And it needs to offer those answers as it winds down the story.
